Meet Dr. Bryhn Simmons

Dr. Bryhn Simmons grew up just southeast of San Antonio, Texas, near Adkins, with his three siblings. As a young boy, Dr. Simmons would often spend time with his father, Dr. Wayne Simmons, in his dental laboratory at home. This is where his interest in dentistry began. He graduated from East Central High School.

Education and Dental Training

Dr. Simmons attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he met his wife, Kelly. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1997, he attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine for four years in Charleston, South Carolina. In these four years, Bryhn and Kelly had their oldest two children, Conner and Mallary. Upon graduating and receiving his D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine), Dr. Simmons completed and passed the Southern Regional Testing Agency licensing exam.

Specialized Full-Mouth Rehabilitation Experience

During his last year of dental school, he was accepted to the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, Alabama, for a residency in Prosthodontics. This full-time, three-year residency from 2002 to 2005 involved the diagnosis and treatment of more complex full-mouth rehabilitations utilizing dental implants, dental crowns, dental bridges, and removable prosthetics.

Dr. Simmons also treated these types of cases on a part-time basis at the Veterans Administration dental clinic. During his first year, he also completed and passed Alabama’s State Dental Board exam and began to practice evenings and weekends in a private clinic, providing additional experience and income for his growing family.

Dental Implant Training and Clinical Experience

Bryhn and Kelly had their third child, Andrew, while in Birmingham. Dr. Simmons was one of the first prosthodontic residents to receive formal training in the surgical placement of dental implants. During his three years of residency, Dr. Simmons placed over 50 dental implants and restored more than 400.

Returning Home to Serve San Antonio

Dr. Bryhn Simmons returned to San Antonio in 2005 after completing his residency and lives in Boerne, Texas. Soon after returning, Dr. Bryhn and Kelly had their fourth child, Hudson.

Dr. Simmons enjoys time with his wife and family. His hobbies are playing basketball, football, tennis, and softball, as well as hunting and fishing.
